Is Steve Kayser right about number of URLs in Google index?

by Wes Thorp on February 17, 2009

I should probably feel good about getting a blog post high on a search engine results page.  Steve Kayser at his Riffs, Tiffs and What Ifs says that Google indexes more than one trillion unique URLs and that it has more than two billion searches each day.

Wow.  Try to wrap your head around that and what it means for your communication efforts.  In his post, he explores some of those questions.

Hi Wes: Never trust any thing Stevo says – I mean he writes with a Donekly – and the donkey is smarter than him (me)!

But I’m wrong – it’s more than that now – http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/we-knew-web-was-big.html

that was the number back in July.

Best

Steve Kayser
